A while back, I had decided to remove some pages from the “Practice Drawing This” because I wanted to take it in another direction. Among them were the 3D reference models I had on “Practice Drawing This” designed to draw from, as I wanted to take another path.
The pages were still there, but they were just not linked to from the main site. They were effectively hidden.
But Google remembered them!
Then, one day, years later, Google Search Console let me know that these were becoming the most popular pages on my website! If you searched “3D cube model”, the Practice Drawing This 3D cube model was the first search result!
GridSpective , which allows you to play with perspective grids, also used to come high on the search results, although it doesn’t do so now anymore. But that was also about placing 3D objects in a space.
Also, Pinterest posts with organic forms suddenly started to take off years after I had posted them!
These exercises are the most popular and sought-after.
This drawing exercise can be fun because you don’t have to be as accurate. You can vary a bit with these organic forms and still have it look good. If the mark-making is fun and you end up with a cool sketchbook page, what more do you want?
