Content Type Three: Human Interest Content

Initial Letter An audience wants to feel a connection to an artist and know more about the person behind the artist. The about page is often the most-visited page of a website. Sharing more about yourself can be a good idea.

Do decide beforehand what you will and will not share.

You can share what you did this week, artistically.

You must be genuine, an actual human being they can connect to. This type of content is about an audience member connecting emotionally with you.

At the end of the Human Interest article, there should be a call to action directing the audience to the resources you want to lead them to. The Human Interest and Evergreen content will hopefully reach the audience interested in the Resources.

Search engine optimization isn’t a good idea for Human Interest content. Human interest content is about sharing stories, as it is about a human connection between you and the audience. For human interest content, titles that pique the interest of a potential audience member work well. You put a question in the head of the person, and they might want to know the answer and start consuming your content out of curiosity.

Reference Of The Week

I want to try out something new: sharing a drawing reference I used this week.

studies of an arm flexing or bending

Sketchbook page with bending, flexing arm studies, drawn directly in pen. I am currently using pens with different colors, and draw with light colors first, and then darker colors over it. I like how that makes the sketchbooks look.

Want to draw this, too? You can check out the demo page here , or the YouTube video . or the draw-alongs pose 1 , pose 2 , pose 3 , pose 4 .

A title could be “This Amazing Thing Can Happen When You Go To An Art Gallery!” No one would search for that, but if an audience feels connected to you, they might start reading the blog post or listening to the YouTube video because they want to hear your story.

In contrast to Evergreen content, Human Interest content can be longer. Human Interest content is about people enjoying hanging out with you.

Human Interest content can be about surprising, delightful things, and it can be entertaining. And it can be about showing the Evergreen content that you offer that no one is searching for, what it can mean to them, and what it can do for them.

With Human Interest content, your audience can connect to you, and they may become interested in your work. They may hear a podcast where you are being interviewed, think you have interesting views, become curious about what you make, and look you up online.

Human Interest can naturally make your audience enthusiastic about your views on things as they get to know, like, and trust you.
