The idea came to me when I realized something: people always say you should sketch with a pen, but there are no books or resources on how to do it. Since I figured out quite a lot along the way, I thought I'd share it as drawing exercises.
When you start drawing directly in pen, you are, of course, afraid that you will make a wrong mark and ruin the whole drawing. Along the way, I found that while some things have to be drawn very accurately, others don't need to be for a visually pleasing result. I am using that to design drawing exercises that are fun to do, improve your skills, and still have a high chance of producing visually pleasing results.
I hope you try them out, and please let me know how you experience them!
The drawing exercises in the video I am sharing today focus on placing pen lines more accurately, with a short warm-up exercise you can do before you start drawing. These hand dexterity drawing exercises can greatly improve your drawing skills as they train you to place lines more accurately. Use them as a short daily warm-up for a few weeks and see what it does for your skills!
You can find all the pen drawing exercises here on the web and download them as a PDF. This is a living document, and I add new pen drawing exercises regularly. Keep an eye on the newsletter to stay informed about new drawing exercises.
Yours sincerely,
